Someone a little different ...

Notices

I hope that this site reveals a little bit of who am I. Just like me it is a work in progress — always changing and never really finished. Feel free to look around, explore, and find something of interest.

I’m a part-time (and for Winter 2012, a temporary full-time) faculty member at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. For the summer I will be a research assistant at SMU, working on software to analyse CT and MRI scans. I love working with students and in sharing what I know. In the fall term, I taught Operating Systems and an adult education course on Introductory Programming for teachers. In the winter I taught Assembly Language Programming and Game Development (Design and Programming). I may be teaching Operating Systems and Software Engineering in September (subject to various factors). You can find the web pages for these courses on my resources page. Also, students should regularly monitor my notices page for information regarding strikes, weather conditions, exams, and assignments.

My finest academic contribution was my chapter (with Maryanne Fisher) in the book Kermit Culture: Critical Perspectives on Jim Henson’s Muppets. I’m super happy to announce I’ll be contributing to the followup, From Fragglerock to Farscape. Jim Henson and Frank Oz are among my heros and I’m grateful that I can help in documenting their impact on our culture. I enjoyed working with Jennifer and Anissa (our editors) and am happy to be collaborating with them again — they are simply amazing.

Please excuse the low quality picture. Its the only good picture there is of me. Perhaps in future someone will take a nicer one.

Thanks for visiting.
